Content Description
This collection contains the materials collected by Arthur Kamhoot and his children, Norman Barry Kamhoot, Pat (Kamhoot) and Gary Heath; it concerns the Custer Freight Road, a now abandoned road constructed by the US Army in 1877 after the Battle of Little Bighorn. The road ran from Fort Keogh at Miles City to Fort Custer near Hardine, MT. This collection contains correspondence, geological/topographical notes and maps, published articles, oversized photocopies of topographical maps, photographs, cassette tapes, CDs and floppy disks. Dates range from ca. 1960 to 2003. Cassette tapes, CDs, and floppy disks were returned to owner; medical and tax records also returned to owner. Journal articles moved to vertical file on Fort Custer; Photos were weeded/sampled. Notes on Jackie Day's Interview (1985) with Arthur Kamhoot were tipped into OH 837.
