Abstract

Thomas H. Irvine (1845-1926) was sheriff of Custer and Ravalli counties and U.S. deputy marshal. Papers (1879-1926) include correspondence, personal diaries, lists of wanted criminals, court papers, and account books. There are also several reminiscences on "Big Nose George" Parrott, the Battle of the Little Big Horn, the Kansas Jayhawkers, and Irvine's journey across the plains (1864)

Abstract

D.J. O'Malley (1867-1943) was a cowboy for the N Bar N Ranch, the Montana Cattle Company's 79 Ranch, and other cattle ranches around Montana. His papers consist primarily of cowboy poetry and other writings reflecting his experiences as a cowboy; a small amount of correspondence (1887-1939); and miscellany, including a few items concerning his father Dominick O'Malley's Civil War military career.

Abstract Dola Wilson owned the Range Rider Bar and Cafe in Miles City. This collection (undated, 1940s-1950s) consists of notes and biographical sketches concerning the local cowboys, or "Range Riders", which were collected and recorded for Wilson by his associate Charles Boucher.
