Armington Mercantile Company records
The Armington Mercantile Company was managed by John T. Athey from its opening in June 1890 until 1896. The store continued operating under different management for many years afterwards. The collection consists of incoming correspondence (1892, 1894-1895); letterpress books (1890-1895) of outgoing correspondence; financial records (1884-1898); and minor court and legal documents; Also included is a summary of Mr. Athey's Civil War service record from West Virginia.
George A. Bruffey papers
George Bruffey (1842-1928) was a Livingston, Montana, rancher, Fish Creek general mercantile store owner, and Butte miner. His papers (1863-1928) include business records (1871-1889) for the George A. Bruffey Mercantile Company, and the Fish Creek Stage Station. Also included are drafts of his autobiography, Eighty-one Years in the West; diaries and writings; and miscellaneous correspondence.
C.R. Sevenson and Company records
C.R. Stevenson and Company was a Radersburg, Montana, general mercantile store engaged in the wholesale and retail sale of produce and implements to the area's miners, farmers, and ranchers. This collection (1910-1922) consists of an account ledger and register, check stub books, a deposit register, and inventory books.
