The Collection is comprised of records documenting the work of the Administration Division of the Montana Department of Highways, and the Montana Department of Transportation, including: correspondence, reports, minutes, manuals, and subject files.

This collection contains materials from the Montana Public Service Commission and its predecessor agency, the Montana Board of Railroad Commissioners (1907-1994). It has been intellectually integrated into one Record Group, RS 501, to help facilitate access and reduce redundancy in the Montana Historical Society (MTHS) catalog.
