The Nelson Coal Company operated coal mines at Sand Coulee, Montana, and sold coal in Great Falls. Records (1915-1923) consist of three cash books and two journals.

William M. Nichols was president of the Yellowstone Park Company, the H.C. Child Corporation, the Spanish Creek Ranch, and other enterprises. Papers include general correspondence (1946-1957); financial records; minutes of the Yellowstone Park Company (1955-1962); and an extensive subject file (1914-1966) maintained both by Nichols and by his son John Q. Nichols, concerning the various corporate and financial affairs of the Nichols and Child families.

The collection includes correspondence and financial records (1915-1925) for the Roundup firm; and subgroups of financial records (1918-1926) for the Ogle Mercantile Company of Gage, Montana and a subgroup of personal correspondence and financial records for Walter M. Ogle, founder and owner of Ogle Hardware.

D.J. O'Malley (1867-1943) was a cowboy for the N Bar N Ranch, the Montana Cattle Company's 79 Ranch, and other cattle ranches around Montana. His papers consist primarily of cowboy poetry and other writings reflecting his experiences as a cowboy; a small amount of correspondence (1887-1939); and miscellany, including a few items concerning his father Dominick O'Malley's Civil War military career.
