Abstract

Herbert Peet (1892-1959) was a Great Falls, Montana, newspaperman and amateur historian. Collection consists of research notes on Montana history copied from various sources; clippings; history articles; and Peet's writings, including a manuscript on Governor Samuel T. Hauser and a day-to-day chronicle of Hauser's career.

Abstract Jeannette Rankin, 1880-1973, was the first woman elected to the U.S. Congress. She served two nonconsecutive terms in the House of Representatives: 1917-1919 and 1941-1943. Rankin was a suffragist, pacifist, and progressive social reformer. As congresswoman she voted against declaration of both world wars. The collection (1912-1972, bulk 1916-1942) consists primarily of correspondence and subject files from Rankin's congressional office. The bulk of materials are from her first term. Some...

Content Description

This collection consists of a photograph (1942) of Raymond Bernard Hieta, a War Department Embarkation Army Post Office Form (1943), Hieta’s undated Army Class “A” Pass, an undated Egyptian postage stamp and Japanese military ephemera, and a postcard (1947) from Hieta to his mother Anna. Biographical materials compiled by the processing archivist are also included in the collection.

Abstract

Wilbur Edgerton Sanders (1861-1935) was a mining engineer and son of Wilbur Fisk Sanders. Collection (1875-1896) includes incoming correspondence from his father, his brother James Upson Sanders, and others; and diaries, chronicling his education, youth, early mining career, trips to Yellowstone, and a visit to the Blackfeet Reservation in 1896.
