This collection consists of reminiscences (1884-1943) of Montana pioneers describing their travel to Montana Territory, encounters with Indians, mining camp life, homesteading, etc. [Compiled by Montana Historical Society.]

Herbert Peet (1892-1959) was a Great Falls, Montana, newspaperman and amateur historian. Collection consists of research notes on Montana history copied from various sources; clippings; history articles; and Peet's writings, including a manuscript on Governor Samuel T. Hauser and a day-to-day chronicle of Hauser's career.

Records (1884-1956) of the Society of Montana Pioneers and the Society of Sons and Daughters of Montana Pioneers consist of minutes, correspondence, membership lists, and biographical materials on members.

William Wheeler (1824-1894) served as U.S. Marshal and as Montana Historical Society Librarian in Helena, Montana. Papers consist of outgoing correspondence (1859-1860, 1869-1871), including discussion of problems of Montana Territorial law enforcement; and biographical writings on Montana pioneers.
