Scope and Contents
This collection contains general correspondence, arranged alphabetically by correspondent as well as by subject; financial records; legal documents; news releases; printed material; reports; subject files; and miscellaneous material of the Montana Bicentennial Administration. Included in the subject files is information on the county bicentennial committees, appointed by the county commissioners in each county to aid counties in their preparation for the bicentennial, and their activities. These files are arranged alphabetically by county. Also included is material on state bicentennial projects proposed and funded; Montana cities and towns qualifying as bicentennial communities because of their number of projects and activities; Montana projects of national significance (e.g. Lewis and Clark Memorial, Yellowstone Journey, Bikecentennial); commemorative items; as well as administrative, operational, and promotional files. Some correspondence is included in the subject files. Selected printed material, maps, photographs, sound recordings, and artifacts were transferred to the Library, Library Map Collection, Photo Archives, Archives Sound Recording Collection, and Museum respectively.
