Abstract

George Bruffey (1842-1928) was a Livingston, Montana, rancher, Fish Creek general mercantile store owner, and Butte miner. His papers (1863-1928) include business records (1871-1889) for the George A. Bruffey Mercantile Company, and the Fish Creek Stage Station. Also included are drafts of his autobiography, Eighty-one Years in the West; diaries and writings; and miscellaneous correspondence.

Abstract The Reinig Company, a Helena, Montana, coffee store and general grocery, was founded by Michael Reinig, a Bavarian emigre in 1865. Reinig also owned a stable, boarding house, and a saloon. The Company operated until 1958. This collection (1865-1948) consists of financial and legal records for the various businesses owned by the Reinig family. Subgroups include M. Content Description

One photographic album containing 21 black and white photographic prints depicting the Montana Mining Company's operations and the Northern Pacific Railway grade in Marysville, MT, circa 1890. Views include: tailing dam; stamp mills; air compressor; storehouse; offices; homes; stables; woodyard; and Emma Miller mill site. The photographs are by the I.W. Taber Studio in San Francisco, California.
