Content Description
Collection consists of 15 interviews telling the stories of women who practiced midwifery in the 1970s and 1980sin Montana and the involvement of some in the process of legalizing and standardizing midwifery in the state during the 1989 and 1991 legislative sessions. The '89 session guaranteed midwives exemption from the Medical Practice Act and the '91 session established standards to formally regulate the profession of home birth midwifery. (OH 2353)
