Records of the Governors of Montana consist of legislative files (1893-1935), including correspondence, bills, vetos, governors messages, petitions, etc.; general correspondence (1902-1962) for individual administrations; and subject files (1889-1962) arranged by state agency and topic.

Abstract This collection is a subgroup (Predecessor Agency) of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services records. The Department of Public Welfare was abolished in 1971 and replaced with the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, which later combined with portions of the Department of Health and Environmental Sciences to form the DPHHS. This collection consists of business and personal papers of William Seltz, a Missoula County, Montana, farmer and apple grower. There is a major subgroup (1920-1934) for the Missoula Orchards Company, for which Seltz was an officer, director, and farm manager.
