The diaries (1932-1951; 1969-1971) were kept by Lydia Hogan as a mature woman living in the ranching community of Joliet, Montana, and describe her family, friends, and daily life. There are gaps in the collection as Mrs. Hogan began her diaries in 1932, but did not start another one until 1941. The entries for 1945-1949 are brief and contained in one volume. The diaries for 1941-1943, 1950-1951, are the most extensive.
