Summary
In this interview Mike Hankins discusses his youth in Oregon; his family's military background; his work in ROTC program; attending military school; being called into active duty through the National Guard; training; trip overseas; arrival during Inchon landing; his assignment to the 57th Field Artillery Unit; march to Seoul; artillery movements; encountering Chinese troups near Pyongyang; the death of his commander; being rescued during battle after being injured; return tip to the United States from field hospital; being mistaken for another soldier whose jacket he was given while injured; response of family and his community when he returned from service; and readjusting to civilian life.
