Biographical / Historical
William Grierson Jr. (Bill Grierson) is the grandson of Joseph Scheuerle (1873-1948) and the son of Margaret Grierson (née Scheuerle) and William John Grierson Sr. Scheuerle and his wife (Carolyn – nickname ‘Cal’) were friends of Charlie and Nancy Russell and visited them in Montana and often stayed at the Russell’s Bull Head Lodge cabin on Lake McDonald. Scheuerle came to Montana several times to paint his Indian portraits from life. With the collection started by his mother, Bill Grierson gathered correspondences and manuscripts related to his grandfather and family. Over a period of years Bill Grierson gifted his extensive collection of his grandfather’s art and memorabilia to MHS.
