Biographical
Lee B. Rostad was an American rancher, writer. Recipient Governor's Humanities award, 2001, Distinguished Alumni award, University Montana, 2004; scholar Fulbright, 1952. Rostad, Lee B. was born on October 28, 1929 in Roundup, Montana, United States. Daughter of Edward and Emma Gail (Haddock) Birkett. She earned a Bachelor with honors, University Montana, 1951. Doctor of Laws (honorary), Rocky Mountain College, Billings, Montana, 1995. After marrying O. Phillip Rostad in 1952 she worked as a rancher with Rostad and Rostad, Martinsdale, Montana. Teacher Public School, Great Falls, 1953-1954, White Sulphur Springs, 1967-1968, Helena, 1968-1972. Board directors, fundraiser Mountainveiw Medical cTr., White Sulphur Springs, 1990—2000. She searved as a trustee for the Montana State History Society, beginning in 1997. President, executive board Montana chapter National Museum Women in the Arts, 1992—2000. Member County Study Commission, Meagher County, 1975. She also sat on the Board of Directors for Montana Committee Humanities, 1989—1996. Member of Meagher County Archives Association (charter), Meagher County History Association (fundraiser since 1960), Montana Watercolor Society. She and Phillip had two sons, Phillip and Carl Eric. Lee passed away March 17, 2020 in Bozeman.
