Biographical / Historical
The State Board of Massage Therapists was established in 1967 to regulate massage therapy. The Board was composed of three massage therapists appointed by the Governor for three-year terms and attached to the Department of Professional and Occupational Licensing. It was required by law to hold at least one regular meeting each year. Serving as President of the Board were Frank Presta (1972-1974) and Thomas Prewitt (1975-1981). The Board was terminated on July 1, 1981, by the 1977 Sunset Law.
