Scope and Contents
Records include minutes (1951-1953) of the Commission; subject files (1941-1952) divided into boards and agencies, arranged alphabetically; commission files (1951-1953), consisting of correspondence, committee assignments, meeting agendas, and reports; task force files (1950-1953) arranged by function, such as accounting, investments, personnel, etc.; and miscellaneous subject files, including studies of other states' structures, consultant files, public interest group files, etc. The agency files include some study materials produced by an earlier commission: the Governor's Committee on Reorganization and Economy.

Biographical / Historical
The Montana Commission on Reorganization of State Government was an investigatory commission established by the 1951 legislature to study the structure of Montana government and to recommend changes. The Commission's four members were appointed by Governor John W. Bonner. After reporting to the 1953 legislature the Commission ceased to exist.

Abstract
The Montana Commission on Reorganization of State Government was an investigatory commission appointed by Governor John W. Bonner, to determine possible structures for the state government of Montana. Records include minutes (1951-1953); correspondence with state boards and agencies; and minutes, research files, and reports of the various task forces set up by the commission. (Same as SMF 27, but records were rearranged sometime after filming.)
