This collection contains John T. Wilson's arithmetic exercise book (1830); a memorandum book of family genealogical notations; incoming correspondence (1849-1850) from relatives including one item from a brother in the California gold fields; and miscellaneous memorabilia.

Biographical / Historical

John Thomas Wilson was born in Calvert County, Maryland, on February 9, 1818. In 1850 he married Sarah Tallmadge of Madison, Wisconsin. They had two daughters, Nellie and Maude, and one son, Eugene T. Wilson. In 1866 Wilson moved his family to the Gallatin Valley of Montana Territory, where he operated a sawmill. In 1870 Wilson moved to Utah where he worked as a blacksmith and miner, and in 1876 the family moved to Dayton, Washington. John Thomas Wilson died in 1895.
