Content Description
38 black and white photographic prints and 50 nitrate negatives from the collection of artist Joseph Scheuerle. Views include excursions by Joseph Scheuerle and his wife, Carolyn, including: Glacier National Park, with views of Lake McDonald, Piegan Pass, and Cracker Lake; trips in wagons and cars, likely in Montana; an advertising display for Glacier National Park; and Banff National Park in Alberta, with views of Lake Louise and Lake Agnes. Collection also includes: a Christmas card from Joe, Carolyn, and Margaret Scheuerle; Margaret Scheuerle with Chief Plenty Coups, likely at the Chicago Zoo in 1914; many views of Joseph Scheuerle with Native Americans in Montana; an unidentified funeral; the construction of a sweat lodge on the Flathead Reservation in northwest Montana; views of the Little Bighorn Battlefield and other views of the Crow Reservation in southeastern Montana; one view of the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming; and one view of the town of Van Tassell in Wyoming. Includes four views of Buffalo Bill Cody, two were likely taken by Joe Scheuerle for the purpose of drawing promotional materials for Cody's show.
