This collection is a sub-subgroup (former Division) of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services records. The Family Assistance Division formerly operated within the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, predecessor agency to DPHHS. Please see the primary finding aid for more Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services records.

The Family Assistance Division records consist of correspondence, minutes of Family Assistance Division administrators’ meetings, subject files relating to programs administered by the division, and clippings. Topics include the following programs: Aid for Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills (JOBS), Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP), Futures for Young Moms, and the Work Incentive Program (WIN).
