Federal Aid Projects, 1938-1940
Scope and Contents
This collection is a subgroup (Commission) of the Montana Department of Transportation records, RS 492. The State Highway Commission, now named the Transportation Commission, consists of five members appointed by the Governor for a four year term. Please see the primary finding aid for more Montana Department of Transportation records.
The Montana State Highway Commission records consist of correspondence (1967-1970), ledgers (1917-1956), meeting minutes (1913-2006), and subject files (1928-1996). The meeting minutes, which are available online on the Montana History Portal (MHP), detail the state-wide projects overseen by the Highway Commission and its successor, the Montana Transportation Commission. The subject files are primarily related to the design and construction of the Missouri River Wolf Point Bridge. Additionally, the three ledgers (1917-1956) detail the Commissions' involvement in Federal Aid projects across the state.
